The University of Melbourne will be running a three-day subject on the taxation of superannuation in March next year, focused predominantly on SMSFs.

The subject, titled LAWS90235 Tax of Superannuation A, will be centred around the policies, technical rules, and current practical problems in relation to the regulation and taxation of SMSFs.

It also explores the taxation rules and prudential management of SMSFs, including what investments and structures funds can use while still attracting concessional tax treatment.

The subject will be lectured by Daniel Butler and Bryce Figot of DBA Lawyers, who are senior fellows at Melbourne Law School.

Mr Figot said the subject is open not just to those completing master's degree or diplomas via Melbourne University, but it can also be taken as a once off ‘stand alone’ subject.

The subject will run from 1 March to 3 March 2022. The last date to enrol is 7 February 2022.
