A new general manager has joined State Super to bolster its defined benefits, assets and liabilities division.

State Super (SAS Trustee Corporation) has appointed Keri Pratt in the role of general manager defined benefits, assets and liabilities, effective 4 January 2021 and reporting to CIO Charles Wu.

Prior to working at State Super as head of strategic partnerships, Ms Pratt was head of institutional, Australia/NZ at Franklin Templeton Investments, was a partner at GMO Australia Ltd and worked in a range of senior superannuation and consulting roles with NAB, MLC and Lend Lease.

Ms Pratt, who joined State Super in 2017, will be responsible for ensuring State Super meets its asset-liability management objectives in negotiation with state and federal governments, providing input into funding policies and plans and working with State Super CIO Charles Wu and prime adviser TCorp to develop and implement the most appropriate investment strategies for management of State Super’s defined benefit assets. Ms Pratt is also responsible for key stakeholder relationships and leading State Super’s actuarial function.

“I’m extremely pleased about Keri’s appointment to this vital role in State Super’s investment team. Her depth of experience in investment strategy and outstanding stakeholder relationships across the government and private sectors will help ensure State Super continues to meet its asset-liability objectives,” CEO of State Super John Livanas said on the appointment of Ms Pratt.

Ms Pratt stated she is excited to expand upon the work she has been doing with TCorp over the last few years.

“I look forward to deepening my engagement with Crown employers, other employers, and our scheme actuary, and I also welcome the opportunity to support and advise State Super’s board and work with my colleagues in the leadership team to deliver the best possible outcomes for our members,” she said.

New State Super CIO Charles Wu stated that Keri’s appointment to this important role was a natural fit given her vast industry experience and outstanding strategic skills.

“I’m excited about the year ahead and having Keri on my team in this pivotal role is a big win for State Super,” Mr Wu added.
