Jane Hume, the Assistant Minister for Superannuation, Financial Services and Financial Technology, will be taking on expanded duties for superannuation and financial services, as part of a new role in the ministry.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison declared the cabinet reshuffle on Friday, commenting he had aimed to bring forward new talent to aid the nation’s recovery from the pandemic.

Among other changes to the cabinet, senator Jane Hume will be taking on expanded responsibilities for superannuation and financial services in her new role, which will also cover the digital economy.

“The digital transformation package was a key component of the most recent budget. It was something I highlighted last year, as one of the key areas for our job-making economic plan for Australia,” Mr Morrison said.

“And it has become even more important as we emerge from the COVID-19 recession.”

Ms Hume was appointed to the role of Assistant Minister for Superannuation, Financial Services and Financial Technology in 2019.
