Speaking to SMSF Adviser’s sister publication ifa, Elixir Consulting managing director Sue Viskovic said that SMSFs tend to use in-depth strategies and have a greater focus on direct investments rather than managed funds.
“In terms of pure advice, we do tend to see more of it in the SMSF specialist space,” Ms Viskovic said.
“[SMSF trustees are] more sticky, they’re more loyal and they are going to be with the advisers for a longer period of time potentially because the more complex their funds get, the more involved they get in a good relationship with a really good, technically competent adviser,” she added.
“[If] they have complete trust in [an adviser] who really understands the situation with their whole fund, then they’re likely not to move.”
