Special Episode: Why SMSF firms need to prepare for Russian cyber-attack reprisals

As the Ukraine conflict unfolds, Australian businesses must prepare for revenge cyber attacks by bolstering their cyber-security measures.

In this special episode of the SMSF Adviser Show, director of Defence Connect Phil Tarrant chats to MAJGEN (Retired) Marcus Thompson, former head of the Department of Defences Information Warfare Division, about the threat of cyber warfare given the conflict in Ukraine and what protections businesses need to put in place.

Marcus warns that Australia must better prepare itself for cyber attacks, which will be weaponised in reprisal against Australia for supporting Ukraine during the recent conflict. This follows a recent warning from Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) that Australian businesses may be targeted by malicious activity.

He discusses the need for SMSF firms and other Australian businesses to ensure that hardware and software have the latest updates and security measures and close the gap on any vulnerabilities that could be exploited.
