Strategic educational partnership launched between SuperConcepts, ASA
A new partnership between SuperConcepts and the Australian Shareholders’ Association will benefit the membership base of each organisation through educational exchanges, the bodies said.
Ben Williams, group marketing manager for SuperConcepts, said the partnership will also help support advocacy work of the two organisations in the increasingly complex and rapidly changing superannuation sector.
“What we are trying to do is ensure that both organisation are able to expand their reach and offer more educational content and information, and more access to resources than they would otherwise without the partnership,” Williams said.
The partnership was instigated after an approach to SuperConcepts from the ASA and will see SuperConcepts provide educational content to the ASA over a 12-month period.
Williams added that for more than six decades, the ASA has been a steadfast advocate for integrity within the investment community. The association has been “dedicated to championing the interests of retail investors” and plays a vital role in shaping public policy and promoting stronger corporate governance across Australia.
“At SuperConcepts we want to be a voice for the industry. There are a lot of legislative changes coming up and when, for example, Division 296 becomes locked in, we will be able to run seminars or webinars actually explaining what the rules are,” he said.
“We will be able to give calculators not just to trustees, but also advisers and teach them how to calculate effectively. The partnership is also ensuring that we're able to give the wider community the tools to navigate these legislative changes.”
Matthew Rowe, SuperConcepts chief executive, said the ASA is a respected leader in the investment community, and its commitment to empowering investors aligns perfectly SuperConcepts’ own mission to simplify SMSF so more Australians can control their super.
ASA CEO Rachel Waterhouse added that the partnership will help more Australians access the resources and education they need to manage their SMSFs with greater confidence and ease.
