This starter course, co-developed by leading SMSF specialists Aaron Dunn and Tim Miller, is made up of six modules and provides 10 hours of training.

It has been designed for new entrants to the SMSF industry, including graduates, administration and offshore teams.

“The upcoming release of this new foundation course is a great milestone for the business as we continue to grow our education footprint in the SMSF sector,” said Mr Dunn, CEO and co-founder of Smarter SMSF.

Mr Miller, technical and education manager for Smarter SMSF, said there is a “real appetite for foundation-level training on SMSFs, and this course provides a platform for people to gain a better understanding of key superannuation concepts and the core requirements of self-managed super funds”.

This course will sit alongside the SMSF Essentials course, which contains seven modules and provides 18 CPD hours.

This existing course has recently been rebranded and updated to suit intermediate-level knowledge, focusing on supporting the education of accountants, advisers and other professionals as a pathway towards becoming an SMSF specialist.

In recognition of the importance of providing pathways towards SMSF specialisation, students who complete the SMSF Essentials course will now be able to access a complimentary period of affiliate or associate membership with the SMSFA Association.

Peter Burgess, CEO of the association, said it is vital to have specialists in the industry with SMSF knowledge.

“By partnering with Smarter SMSF for this complimentary offer, we are once again encouraging those working in the field to stand up, invest in their expertise and set themselves apart,” he said.

These courses are accessible via the Smarter SMSF platform to purchase and are also available to license by larger organisations under an enterprise agreement.

“We have a number of larger organisations who access these courses through their own Learning Management System (LMS), helping them to better onboard team members and control the learning outcomes of the different levels of staff.”

Moving into 2024, Smarter SMSF will also be developing its SMSF Advanced course, finalising its ‘starter, smarter, smartest’ course model. These modules will also be available to purchase individually and will cover a range of topics including insurance, LRBAs and more.
