In an email to clients this week, Act2 managing director Andy O’Meagher said the group had wanted to do something to assist the rising number of Australians in need as a result of the bushfire crisis.

“It’s hard to write, think or post about anything but the massive fires that are sweeping across Australia right now,” Mr O’Meagher said.

“Images of fleeing wildlife, burning properties and stranded families fill our fees and television screens and smoke envelopes major cities. How can we help?”

He added that Act2 would be encouraging SMSF clients who needed to purchase an actuarial certificate in the coming weeks to do so on 20 January to ensure their funds went to a good cause.

“For existing clients looking to help, perhaps you can put your current requests aside and process them all on the 20th, and for those that have not used our services before, what better time or reason to start?” Mr O’Meagher said.

“Through this simple action, you can make a difference.”

Act2 confirmed it would donate 50 per cent of proceeds from certificate purchases on the day to WIRES, with the remaining 50 per cent to be donated to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
