Sage moves tax lodgement software to the cloud

Accounting software provider Sage has released a cloud version of its electronic tax lodgement software for individuals, companies, partnerships, SMSFs and trusts.

Sage HandiTax Cloud enables accountants to create, lodge and track tax returns for individuals and provides customers with real-time data which can be accessed at any time.

The software displays an updated tax estimate as the accountant completes the individual or company forms, rules to ensure only valid values are entered in order to reduce the likelihood of errors, and the ability to autofill and validate details using Google.

Sage Software Australia director of accountants Michael Farrell said that tax compliance remains a “thriving industry” with the IBIS World Industry Report M6932 2017-18 indicating that more than 33,800 businesses currently provide accounting and tax services in Australia, with these services representing around 22 per cent of all accounting services.

“The accounting industry has rightly been focusing on the shift towards advisory services, but tax is not dead. In fact, tax and compliance are often the starting point for generating further value added advisory services for practices,” said Mr Farrell.
