Accurium and the University of Adelaide officially launched their SMSF Retirement Essentials workshop in Adelaide last week.

The non-award course intends to support SMSF practitioners, including accountants and advisers, in developing strategies to convert their clients’ SMSFs into “sustainable cash flows for retirement”, according to Accurium.

The course – which will also be rolled out to the eastern seaboard – covers the role of SMSFs in retirement, retirees’ risks and needs, cash flow, capital adequacy, social security and retirement portfolio construction.

Speaking to SMSF Adviser, Accurium’s chief executive Tracy Williams said the feedback for the course has so far been “really positive”.

“It is very much participation-type offering. The feedback from the course was that the participants were quite engaged. For me, that shows that the course material is pitched at the right level,” she said.

Ms Williams said she intends this course to be the start of Accurium “branching out” more formally into the education space.

“We have always done a lot of webinars and presentations at industry events and the like, but we’re really excited about being in the education space, particularly with a partner such as the University of Adelaide,” Ms Williams said.
